Grief affects health in many ways. From brain fog to sleepless nights or panic attacks, grief is a physical, mental, and emotional stress. The body reacts to grief as if it were a physical trauma; so any organ, especially the heart, can be affected by grief. Lifestyle changes are needed in order to accomplish various health goals. But where to start? 

Age-associated changes, sleep disorders, long-term stress, and long-term grief can all cause (or are caused by) both temporary and chronic disease and disorders (such as pre-diabetes, diabetes, migraines, obesity, high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, and cancer) and the list goes on.

In order to combat the likely health effects of these disorders, health practitioners advise adding exercise, changing dietary and sleep habits, releasing stress by adding meditation, gaining support, letting go of what you don’t need, and practicing self-care (and much more). In an already over-loaded schedule, adding these new habits and actions can seem overwhelming and just another source of stress. That is where both grief and health support are needed.

A Functional Nutrition Expert (FNE) doesn’t diagnose or treat any condition but can help you to organize all the new health information you have, guiding you slowly into new ways of doing things after you receive a diagnosis (and/or treatment recommendations). And best of all, the FNE listens to you, works with you, and assists you in creating your own unique program to fulfill your health vision and goals. As an FNE, I am a behavior and lifestyle change expert and will listen to you and help you attain your health goals. As a Certified Grief Educator, I can also help you achieve balance in your life after loss. Individual coaching only is available.
